What is Al-Saqi Company?

Al-Saqi Electronic Payment Services Company is a private company wholly owned by Al-Abbas Holy Shrine. It is licensed by the Central Bank of Iraq to operate as an electronic payment service provider across three activities (issuer, acquirer, and processor), under License No. (15) of 2021. Al-Saqi aims to deliver solutions that enable institutions to implement government strategies while encouraging individuals to adapt to the rapid technological advancements shaping the world.

What is Al-Saqi Card?

A prepaid or debit electronic payment card that can be used for:

How can I apply for a new card?

You can apply for a new card using one of the following methods:

Visit one of Al-Saqi Company's branches and submit the required documents.

Submit a card issuance request directly through Al-Saqi application by entering the required information and uploading the necessary documents. Your request will be reviewed, the card will be issued, and it will be delivered to your address.

What are the requirements for card issuance?

You can apply for a new card by visiting one of Al-Saqi Company's branches or through Al-Saqi application. The process requires entering the personal information from your National ID card, uploading the required documents, and taking a live photo of the applicant.

After submission, the application is forwarded to the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML/CFT) Department for review and verification. Once approved, the card is issued and delivered to the customer, either through a branch or via the delivery service to the registered address.

Is my data protected when using Al-Saqi services?

Yes, the company applies the highest global security standards, with a fully integrated Anti-Money Laundering (AML) system and transaction monitoring.

Can the customer change the card PIN?

Yes, the customer can change the card PIN through the application.

How can the phone number linked to the card be changed after issuance?

The phone number can be changed by visiting one of the company’s issuing centers or by contacting customer service.

How many cards is a customer allowed to issue?

The customer is entitled to issue one card according to Central Bank regulations.

How can I deactivate the card?

The card can be deactivated through the mobile application or by contacting customer service.

What should I do if I lose my card?

The card can be temporarily deactivated through the application or by contacting customer service until it is found. If the card is not found, it is recommended to issue a new card and transfer the funds through one of the company’s centers.

What is meant by a user account or a merchant account?

It is the electronic account created by an individual or merchant on the company’s platform to manage services such as:

  •  Electronic card
  • Payment and collection operations
  • Access to reports and transactions

What is meant by merchant registration?

It is the process of onboarding a merchant into the electronic payment system, enabling them to accept payments via POS terminals, cards, or e-wallets.

Can the card be recharged? And how?

Yes, you can top up your card through any of the following methods:

  • Visiting one of Al-Saqi Company's branches.
  • Through authorized agents.
  • At Kiosk locations available across various governorates in Iraq (you can find the nearest location using the interactive map within Al-Saqi application).
  • By transferring funds from another card.

What are POS devices?

Electronic devices provided to merchants to accept customer payments via cards, and they offer reports and real-time sales monitoring.

Who can register as a merchant?

  • Any individual or legal entity (company/organization) with a legitimate business activity may register as a merchant, including:
  • Retail stores and restaurants
  • Small shops
  • Delivery companies
  • Freelance or home-based businesses (subject to the applicable policy)

You can register by visiting one of the company’s authorized centers.

Yes, you can register multiple branches under the same main merchant, with dedicated POS terminals and separate reports for each branch.

A QR code is a code scanned using a smartphone camera within the app to complete an electronic payment. It is ideal for stores, delivery services, and fast contactless payments.
